Every story of a person who finds themselves far from home is a story of a search: for safety, for peace, and, ultimately, for God. Fr. Andriі Pinchuk, a priest of the Mission, shares a memory of a special meeting that reminds us why our journey through Norwegian communities is so important.
A Meeting Across Years and Borders
“We first met this woman in Kherson back in 2022. Back then, amidst anxiety and uncertainty, she selflessly helped at the church, distributing humanitarian aid to those who needed it. Time passed, and destiny brought her to the picturesque but distant municipality of Otta in Norway.” She has been living here for over three years now. Although life in Norway has been peaceful and stable, a deep longing lived in her soul—in all these years, she never had the opportunity to cross the threshold of an Orthodox church and join in shared prayer. A person used to living in community and prayer, she missed the feeling of unity around the Chalice of Christ incredibly much.
The Mission: From Community to Community
It is precisely for the sake of such people—those thirsting for living fellowship with God—that we travel hundreds of kilometers. We journey through Norway from fylke to fylke, from municipality to municipality. Our goal is for every Ukrainian, wherever they have settled, to feel the presence of God and His boundless love once again during the long-awaited Holy Liturgy. So, we are restoring the connection of our Orthodox community!

Divine service is a gift that we often take for granted until we lose it… Therefore, we appeal to everyone: do not neglect the opportunity to come to church while you have it. Come so that together we can share the joy of the Eucharist and support one another!
