Our first one-day kayaking trip with the children has taken place!
We set off from the church in Flåbygd and paddled for several hours along the Telemark Canal to the Hogga lock — all within Nome municipality in Telemark county. For the journey, we used Ukrainian folding kayaks manufactured by NERIS UA. Perhaps on this very day, Norway saw Ukrainian-made kayaks on its waters for the first time ever!
The children enthusiastically participated in the whole process: they loved both assembling the kayaks and steering them on the water. The trip gave everyone many vivid impressions, taught us to work together, and revealed the beauty of Telemark from a new perspective.
This was only our first swim. Ahead lie many plans and new routes along Norway’s rivers, lakes, and coastline. Our great water adventure is just beginning!
