On February 24, Ukrainians of our Norwegian town of Bø gathered for a memorial gathering in front of the city hall. Local Norwegians joined us as well. Together, we remembered these three years of war. We prayed for those who died defending Ukraine, for the soldiers, volunteers, and all who perished from bombings, wounds, and suffering, from hunger and thirst, from cold and lack of aid, and those who died in captivity and under occupation. We prayed for our soldiers who are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom right now. We prayed for volunteers, medics, energy workers, and those who support the civilian population, refugees, and displaced persons. Both the rally and the prayers were conducted in Ukrainian and Norwegian. It so happened that I had many meetings with Norwegians this week. And they are true Ukrainians at heart. They support Ukraine with all their heart and are glad that Norway is at the forefront of helping our country.
One of them told me the other day:
“Not a single day goes by without news from Ukraine. My heart is with you!”
