Easter in Bø: Ukrainian Traditions United People from Different Countries

On the holy day of Easter, we gathered in St. Thomas Chapel near Bø Church to celebrate the bright Resurrection of Christ.
Ukrainians from three nearby municipalities and Spaniards came to share the Easter joy. The service was conducted in Ukrainian, Norwegian, and the Kyiv recension of Church Slavonic.
After the service, everyone broke the fast together. Then, after the Norwegians finished their own Easter service, we organized a festival of traditional Ukrainian Easter food for them, accompanied by Orthodox church chants. We did not only sing and treat our Norwegian guests (of whom there were nearly 150 people); we also talked a lot about Ukraine and its current challenges. And, of course, we expressed our deep gratitude to the Norwegians for supporting Ukraine and Ukrainians.
Christ is risen!
