Easter in Notodden: “The Main Thing is for Christ to Rise in Our Hearts”

The Easter journey through Norway has begun!

The Bright Resurrection of Christ unites Ukrainians wherever they may be — in their native land or thousands of kilometers away from home. This year, the Orthodox community in Norway shared the Easter joy across many municipalities, and Notodden became one of the brightest points on the schedule of services.

Father Andriі Pinchuk recorded a touching video message directly from the church after the service concluded. The majestic architecture and stunning acoustics of the local church underscored the solemnity of the moment as the Easter troparion echoed beneath its vaults: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death…”

However, according to the priest, external beauty and traditional holiday attributes are merely the form. The true meaning of Easter lies in a person’s inner transformation.

This call to live out faith daily is especially relevant now, when each of us needs spiritual support and hope. Easter in Notodden became not just a religious event, but a symbol of the resilience of spirit and the unity of the Ukrainian community in emigration.

We invite you to watch the video and feel the atmosphere of peace and light shared by Fr. Andriі.

May the Easter joy last longer than just one day and become our constant source of strength.

“I am very glad that so many people gathered here today. But I want to wish that Easter becomes about more than just eggs or paskas. The main thing is for Christ to live in our hearts, for Him to rise in our souls. So that we carry this resurrection with us every day,” Father Andriі noted in his address.
